Cello Fingerboard Explorer

An interactive note map of the Cello's fingerboard in CGDA: tap a note to light it everywhere it occurs, and watch the lattice the tuning builds — CGDA — a fifth between each neighbouring pair, C at the bottom and A at the top.

Nothing on this fingerboard marks the notes, which is exactly why a map helps: light up a scale and the four-finger frames stop being abstract, and the shifts between positions become distances you can see before you have to feel them.

The Cello and the Viola share the same four letters, CGDA, but this one speaks an octave below — same map, different room, and a bow arm that has to travel further to cross the same interval.
